There are a myriad of struggles that kids and teens face as they navigate relationships with peers and their family, school, homework, extra-curricular activities, social media, their changing bodies and opinions, and the challenges that occur as part of life, such as moving, new schools and classes, changing friends, divorce, death, and the list could go on. For some kids and teens, that list includes things like abuse, neglect, and abandonment. As adults, we know the challenges life can bring. Sometimes, kids and teens lack the resources to manage these oncoming challenges, and they need a little help. At The Treehouse Counseling Services, I help kids and teens who are experiencing adjustment issues, attachment disorders, anxiety, self-confidence issues, behavioral concerns, post-traumatic stress, and grief and loss, and I help parents develop strategies that work for their unique family. I also work with parents who are experiencing challenges with their children 3-years-old and under to promote healthy attachment and develop routines that empower parents to feel confident and successful in their own abilities (See section on infant and early childhood mental health.) We will also be offering summer groups this year.
