Welcome to the Treehouse!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I am excited to share with you a little about myself, the services I offer, and the vision of The Treehouse Counseling Services. Please reach out with any questions you might have.

Why a “treehouse”? I grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee, and as a child I spent countless days creating forts and treehouses in the woods with my closest friends. To me, a treehouse was both a place of connection with the people I loved, and a quiet place of sanctuary and refuge, my own little bubble away from the stress of the world. It was there that I could be my most authentic self, creative, independent, reflective, confident… the most ME that I could be.

I created The Treehouse Counseling Services to help others find their safe little bubble, where they are free to be their most authentic selves. It is from that place of safety that together we can address the things that are causing you to struggle. My goal has always been to create a practice that offers exceptional clinical skills while bringing fun and creativity, along with warmth and connection, into the therapeutic process. I have seen the positive impact this approach has had on the lives of so many individuals and families over the past several years, and I would be honored to assist you and your family in unlocking the confidence and resilience that will lead to a brighter tomorrow.

“Bravery is being yourself when the world wants you to be someone else.”

Amber Austin, LMHC

I have dedicated my life to making a positive impact in the lives of children and teens. My career as a licensed mental health counselor lets me do this every day. I have a Master’s degree in mental health counseling and addiction studies, as well as advanced training in play therapy, sand tray therapy, relational interventions, and trauma processing with children and teens. Currently, my practice is focused on providing virtual therapy services to tweens and teens, ages 12-19, parent coaching, and clinical supervision to future therapists that plan to specialize in working with children and teens. I love what I do!

My services are unique, because I specialize in incorporating modalities that process trauma, such as EMDR, with relation-based therapies, such as TBRI, and I incorporate all of these with experiential modalities, like AEDP that ease and speed processing. That’s a lot of “therapist talk” to say that I am equipped to meet your child where they are, use interventions that equip them to connect to others, and empower them to change their lives.

Everyone has hurdles to overcome at some point in life. Today, kids and teens are facing those challenges earlier than ever, and parents are having to navigate new challenges in an ever-changing technologically advanced world.

If you are looking for parent coaching services, or if your child is struggling with school or life transitions, relationships, anxiety, depressive symptoms, grief and loss, perfectionism, low self-esteem, trauma recovery, or the pressures of elite level academics or athletics, let’s have a conversation to talk about how therapy could be helpful. I would love to speak with you about my approach and help you determine if I would be the best fit to help with your unique situation.
